Raqchi – Temple of Wiracocha
The remains of an Inca Temple. The bottom of the wall is made of volcanic rock. The upper part is adobe style with mud strengthened with llama fiber and cactus juice as the ‘glue’. The Incas knew that the rock was too soft to use for the whole wall.
This whole area was once surrounded by a rock wall. Much of the wall was dismantled and the stones used to build houses.
