I made it to Peru early yesterday morning. First class made the long flights better, and business class from Miami to Lima was great. I had an electric reclining seat that made down into a bed so I got some sleep.
Now, I am sitting in Kennedy Park near my hotel. This is where everyone comes to use the Internet. There are lots of stray cats here. It is almost like the rabbits in some of our parks except that they don’t run away. I tried to post yesterday, but could not get it to send. Will keep working on it…might have to find an Internet store.
My driver from the airport gave me lots of useful information. Glad I had someone meet me as my hotel is 40 minutes – without traffic – from the airport. It was like being in Mexico with crazy drivers, weird traffic lines, and huge potholes. He told me not to trust the drivers when crossing he street….dummy me, I walked with the crowd today and got honked at by a driver who did not slow down.
I got interviewed by a group of school boys for a homework project yesterday. Cute kids with good beginner English. Wish our kids had more access to learning another language.
As I look around, I see Chili’s, McDonald’s, and…..you get the picture….I ate at a Peruvian restaurant, though, as I am not homesick yet.
Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day…today is overcast. A good day for the city tour this afternoon.
