Catholic Church built on the ruins of an Inca Sun Temple

The Spanish destroyed the Inca Sun Temple that sat on this site and used the foundations to build their church on. They destroyed all to prove that their god was superior, but many Peruvians, though now Catholic, retain their respect for the elements that shaped the Inca world.
This church sits in the square where the governor lives and works in Lima. City Hall is also in that square -Lima currently has it’s first female mayor.
